In this study, we quantified the phonological distance between pun and target words and assessed possible correlations with humorousness ratings of the subsuming joke. Our statistical analyses on a large dataset of puns revealed a significant negative correlation between phonological distance and perceived humorousness for two of the four phonological distance measures applied.

Using TASH, a toolbox for the automated segmentation of the Heschl's gyrus, we explored relationships between anatomical measures, such as volume, surface area, thickness, and curvature, and language-experience measures like number and proficiency of spoken languages, age of acquisition, and duration of exposure.
